Are Renters a Problem for Your HOA?

Many associations treat renters as second-class citizens. While they may not purposely discriminate against them, they typically exclude them from the benefits of the community; simply because they do not have voting rights. Renters often have no clue what is happening in the community because they simply are not communicated with.

HOA Surveys

Getting input prior to developing a new rule or making a decision that impacts everyone, helps build community support and generate “buy in” to the process. Ultimately, getting “buy in” equates to more enforcable rules. Knowing that every homeowner had a voice in the decision, makes it clear that a rogue board didn’t simply decide, but in fact, the homeowners’ peers did.

Email – HOA Board Business

Should Your HOA Use Email?

Why not? Everybody uses email for everything right? Seems that way; but Washington laws around a homeowners association’s use of email to communicate with its members are unclear and confusing to many board members.

Over Communicate

In almost every HOA situation that has gone awry, one can almost always put a finger on the “tipping point”. That moment that started the negative spiral. Nine times out of ten, the tipping point had something to do with a lack of communication.
